Feedbacks on the course we have hosted at FAI-AR in Marseille, last july

FAI-AR open two of its fundamental course to outside interns in addition to the 16 apprentices of the 5th class. The fundamental courses are three weeks sequences based upon specific aspect of street and public space art to be undertaken through site-specific experiments.

Fundamental 5 – Sonic exploration was an immersion within a given territory, but also with a method and a collective. During three weeks, we have shared time with the students artists, as well as our artistic approach and ways of managing project between individual sensitivities and collective project.
Composing with singularities and the common experience, we have started from defined areas of urban activity, artists have observed, surveyed, analyzed them through exploratory protocols. Listening to rhythms, flows, to the density of the urban landscape, they have shared their sensory perceptions. As the core of the process, sound (as a matter of amplification, acoustics, transformation) was altogether the implement for collecting and recounting impressions and fictions about the territory.
